Tarin-Gazin Roars Into the Story!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 72648

"DIE Shoggoth scum!" screamed Tarin-Gazin as he roared down upon the Shoggoth and his Clown Posse in a crunched-up Yellow Cab that looked like it had just rolled out of a junk yard. The One Shoggoth stared in surprise, a look of surprise that was permanently smeared across his pimply teenage goth features as Tarin's sedan smashed right through him.

"QUICK! Get in!" Tarin shouted as he screeched to a halt in front of Fred and Astra. They scrambled into the cab as quickly as they could and Tarin gunned it out of there.

After a while Tarin caught his breath and seemed to relax. Turning around to look at his two passengers, he smiled and said, "Boy, am I glad to see you two." Fred stared at Tarin uncomfortably. For one thing, he'd never met the dwarf (at least, not in this thread) and yet he knew exactly who he was. And for another thing, Tarin looked more than a little like Ernest Borgnine. People who looked like Ernest Borgnine always made Fred feel uncomfortable. But oh well, at least he didn't look like Abe Vigoda.

"Tarin, what's going on here?!" Astra exclaimed.

"All hell's broken loose," the dwarf replied pithely.

"Well, when you're dealing with the One Shoggoth, that sort of thing is kind of expected," Fred remarked. "And by the way, running him over isn't going to stop him for very long."

"I know that!" Tarin growled. "But it will give us some extra time."

"Time to do what?" Astra asked.

"Time to find the missing pages from Belboz' Book of Magic and send the One Shoggoth packing his bags for Hell!" Tarin grinned savagely.

"But if they're missing, how are we going to find them?" Fred wondered out loud.

"Why am I always stuck working with this guy?" Tarin muttered, shaking his head. "Listen, your royal pain-in-the-ass, the pages were lost in a gnome skyship that was shot down over a strange, walled city filled with the worst monsters, psychopaths and scumbags you'll ever find. They were kept in a suitcase fitted with a tracking device. All we have to do is follow the beep-beep of the gnome-box and we'll find the pages. That's the easy part."

"What's the hard part?" Fred asked.

"Staying alive!" Tarin growled. "And we've only got 24 hours to find the pages and get the hell out of there. After that, the One Shoggoth with be breathing down our necks!"

"And what is the name of this god-forsaken metropolis we are about to pay a visit to?" Astra asked.

"New York City," Tarin grumbled through gritted teeth.

  1. Enter the city, find the pages, and then... Escape from New York!
