Weather Control

She came to a decision. "Why should I play your game? Goodbye!" With that, she started running across the meadow, heading for the nearest point at which it gave way to the mist-shrouded forest.

"Come back!" the maiden cried, but Nendi ignored her. The sky began rapidly to darken, the wind got up, and then a cold, drenching rain began to fall. This was bad news for Nendi, who still wore only a bikini. At least when she reached the trees she should be sheltered from the worst of the rain, she consoled herself.

1. So she was. And as she left the maiden further behind, the weather improved once more. Apparently the girl could only affect conditions in her immediate vicinity.
2. But as she neared the trees, she saw that their leaves were turning rapidly from green to brown and beginning to fall. And the rain was starting to turn to snow.
3. But the trees never seemed to get any nearer. "You'll leave when I say you can leave and not before," the maiden said. She sounded as though she was only a couple of yards behind Nendi, and when she looked over her shoulder she saw that she was!
4. She heard galloping hooves behind her. The maiden had mounted the unicorn and was trying to prevent her from reaching the trees,
