They decide to NOT try this.
Yes, you heard correctly. They are not going to try to raid the mage's house again for loot. And by extention, they are not going to try the more expensive route of hiring a mage. Why? . . . They barely escaped with their forms and minds intact the first time around and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt they'd been pushing their luck with the second go at it. Had only done it because their former employer (now a satyre) had basically tricked them. Trying it again? Well . . .it would be for a good cause but in the end giving it some consideration... Well, they had been happy enough with their new gryphon being able to neutralize the traps on the passage out. This was something else. They d not feel like risking it again because . . .they dont' even know what exactly would be valuable or not even IF they could get back in and out safely. Indeed, they finally conclude it would be foolish to try. See, even WITH Braveheart with them there were a few items (chests and such) which made the giantess' teeth ache just by being in proximity. THAT was how powerful the wards had been on those obvious stowage places for the mage's valuables. Even IF a thief had been able to get into the house, they'd have to have overcome the even more powerful wards on the mage's treasures. Housing was much cheaper to replace and fix due to breakins than replacing what was in those chests. Whatever else it told the giant females was that not only had the mage been more concerned about his belongings (magical probably . . .valuable most definitely) in that chest than he cared for his house. That and they were NOT going to get whatever was in there, period! . . . However, this is not to say that the giantesses and wood elf were left with just converting over to a religion and hope for the best! Nope! Oh, they could try to use their own faiths since (maybe) there was overlaps between the pantheon of the Frost Giants and some of the varous local human religions. Not too far fetched, considering that on certain worlds in places called Rome and Egypt certain gods got identified as being analogous to the other (and thus the same). Things like Nike and . . . Well, not important. They could still try it. Make sacrifices and donations to their gods and goddesses and ask a favor in their gods' names for a boon for Nightfall (what with her being family and all that). However, there was a possible differnt course of action that occured to them. Slim chances of success, but a better chance at being done than what it otherwise could be... And if it fails, then they can just go and try the god route and hope for the best. Gods and goddess (of the non-Mistress pantheon at least) may be less inclined to aid the giantesses and wood elf if they dont' belong, but . . .they might still be bothered. Maybe... What they can do instead of looting a mage’s place (and probably end up dead or worse for their trouble) OR try to gain favors from the Powers that Be was . . . try to loot what remained of their former employer’s belongings? Hey, weren’t they now in good favor with whatever faction that the merchant had belongs to (according to the dragon female)? And they’d been hired by that smuggler and as such (having been put in such a bind by his omissions), they should be compensated (more than they had been)! And so, in the dead of night the remaining wares were tracked down and . . . .liberated. As it turned out . . . legally. By right by the laws and rules of the Black Market Cult, the merchant’s wares DID go to them! Because . . .a key figure (not top level but one in a position in power) say it was okay. Though as the figure from the BMC shakes long red tresses. Something about all this . . .seemed to be . . . "My dreams to me to be here," the figure whispers softly. Intuition and orders from the shadows do the rest (unbeknownst to the giant females and friends in question). Funny how that worked out, so nothing (bad) happened when they attempted to hock those wares later on.
