In the hubbub of the subway station, Stacy hadn't heard the man the
first time when he whispered that he was putting away his gun [6891],
but when he realised that she hadn't heard he repeated himself a little
more loudly, and she
caught what he said this time. They travelled only a couple of stops.
Then the man directed her back up to the street. They went to a nearby
car rental agency. Stacy assumed that the identification the man gave
must be false. In any event, they were soon on the road in a mid-range
saloon.
