Elrondir It's when they get to the very END, which is both unexpected and understandable, given this messed up world they live in. It is SO very understandable given the reality that this world came from, you know. I mean SEELE must have had a very good propaganda program to be able to not only to be able to manage such a massive, world wide conspiracy (which would have climaxed into Instrumentality in the end if not for . . . a variety of unforeseen circumstances like ME and mine). Some of the biggest truths were hidden practically in plain sight by some rather outrageous lies and . . . But that's by the by, that fact. As is the fact that Sigin is giving Nagissa the same information as I am giving you here (both spoken and unspoken). More or less, through mindspeak. Comes in handy that talent and a nice ace in the hole, just in case! While we trust these Neon Genesis folks to a point, we don't trust them enough to not have a few aces up our sleeves. If they turn on us, aces come in handy. Besides, they're nervous enough with Spock being an actual telepath. The Vulcan is a touch telepath (must touch you to mindmeld). After a few disastrous encounters with Neon Genesis Angels who could reach out (and mindfrell you) at a great distance (or just mindfrell you up close and personal), I fear how they'd react to US. Eh, we make then nervous enough as it stands and if we must we'll pass it off as yet another form of magic, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there! Back to the generals here. They seemed to have come down here with a lot of questions. What I am saying is that even though we'd been above board and open in my report, I'm sure that a lot of it had not been believable in the generals' eyes. See, they kind of came in late to this party and at a guess had even a hard time believing what their analogs told them. Yes, they can believe in aliens and spaceships. They can even believe that the real life version of Star Trek: The Original Series for too much has been seen and done to be denied. I do believe that they'd put down my and my friends powers and type (dragons, elves, and whatnot) as being just in the same vein as those Star Trekkers, though. That is, just as the entity who called himself Apollo and appears to have been the basis for the Greek god by that same (believed himself to BE the god in question). Yes, what I'm saying that the generals had thought that elves and dragons were actually some kind of extraterrestrial race who'd served as the basis for the myths and legends of old and our "magic" was just some kind of misnamed powerful form of psionics. They're wrong, but it's understandable about thinking that of us. Probably thought that these "Rules" and "Agents" was just more of the same (somewhere in the category that Apollo fell within in Star Trek). . . . Myself, I'm of a different opinion on the matter but then again I have faith in my beliefs . . . as others have faith in their own religious views. Indeed, more than a little bit of that is kind of reflected in Astra the Angel over there in how I view her and OTHERS view her form. . . . Yeah, we've been over that stuff already. How sometimes the Office of Good and Angels seem to adopt various forms from various religions (depending upon the viewer's religious beliefs). That's all fine and well and not important right now. I see, however, that whatever the case whatever doubts these generals had about me and mine kind of got pretty much cleared up (for the most part) by Astra the Angel's mere presence. . . . "I . . . guess what we read about your group had not been a joke after all," one general says, glancing back at Astra and then at us. "A group in the employment of some . . . entities called Rules and Agents sent here originally here to ease tensions between my . . . uh. I mean my counterpart's armed forces and those of that other world's United State's Marine Core." "And Star Fleet," one of the other Generals mutters, rolling his eyes slightly at the last. See he's still having trouble with dealing with Star Trek being a reality. . . . They can accept us fantasy folks easier than those from Star Trek, eh? Hm. Maybe they have better tastes than I thought... As for those means we had to employ! Good GOD! Originally we'd planned on using a much lower keyed (and risky) means to that end. But instead things had gotten so out of hand so quickly that two of us had to put themselves in a BAD way to halt the madness! If it had gone much further? Well, Tokyo 3 here would have been a glow in the dark ruin and the nukes which would have done the deed would have had it's energy also visited upon dozens and dozens of Star Trek worlds. In other words, a lot of unintended targets would have been cooked along with Tokyo 3. Let us say nothing about what that nuclear device would have done to ME and mine, thank you! Oh yeah, we did at that with Rei's Validation Quest. Had to use methods that put my frickin' SISTER and the Doctor into a coma in order to halt things in their tracks. Yes, in the process it was enough of a punch to derail SEELE. Creator! We don't NEED to be screwing around with nutjobs like those types, thanks. With what we had right now we'd be punching WAY out of our weight class with those berks to play nice! The "Burning Chrome" gambit worked wonder, thank the Creator (or whatever gods and goddesses you believe in). Heh, originally we'd planned on minimizing our presence and influence to where we'd easily have disappeared into the background and nobody would have thought to ask about us until we'd been long gone. Now? We're SO involved in things that it is not even funny, thank YOU! "You're welcome by the way," I mutter softly, too softly for them to hear. Either that or they opted on ignoring it. They'd always seemed to be the hard nosed, no nonsense type who'd not easily be put off, even now. When everything was going bugf*ck with their UN with trying to head off Third Impact (and just out and out insanity, period) it had been the OTHER UN (the one of this world we'd been dealing with) who'd helped bring back some sanity to the situation. How exactly isn't for this setting (nor those of weak stomachs). Suffice to say that it was done and now these generals suddenly found themselves answering to THIS world's UN and not their old UN bosses. . . . Tell me that I'm not in some kind of paranoid fantasy and tied down somewhere to a couch? Wonder where Aslan would be diagnosed as? What exactly his manifestation would represent? "And then because of the meddling of some . . . godlike entity called an Author we see another Quest had to be set up and your group I believe opted on accepting," the third general recalled. "If I recall correctly, Mr. Elrondir . . ." Sigh, while I loath to interrupt them I find being constantly being referred to by my first name and having the formal prefix of "Mister" being attached to it . . . bothersome. Then again it could be worse. These types hardly are one's for casual conversation, being somewhat stickler's to military protocol if nothing else. Yeah, I got voted down in having the universal translator allowed to slip in an occasional Japanese term instead of straight English. It would have been . . . nicer in a way, really. An occasional "Rei-chan" or "Shinji-kun" would have been charming, but . . . that wasn't to be. Then again, making Asuka's tri-lingual ranting and raving less "cute" does allow one to not be distracted and concentrate more on the here and now. Bottom line, I'll let it slide with this "mister" business from the generals because IF they hadn't been using titles then something would be amiss. The Japanese back Home as well as here (unless in casual conversation) would be doing a grave insult in addressing you without a title. It's an insult, you see, not using titles. But that's not important right now, anyway. Basically, they recount how because of the Chaos Energy from both Tabris and Rei one had somehow reached out and caused their world (which had been in the process of being brought back to something before that disastrous cumulation of their SEELE's manipulation . . . .their near brush with Third Impact/Instrumentality) to be merged with this world. Which . . . . . . Which lead to a rather nightmarish situation for US as far as the challenge factor when that happened. Lilith's Validation Quest (whatever it was to have been) was going to have been one hellacious one, let me tell you! One of Death Star proportion, I'd guess. Oh, she could have done it with the aid of AK-47 (who has at her disposal more than a few resources throughout the Star Wars reality she hales from, being who she is). But when the merging came and contact with the outside world became impossible (in or out), her Quest somehow tangled up with our Quest (keeping Tabris and Rei I safe). Bottom line, WE suddenly found ourselves challenged in our Quest in epic fashion. Probably too much so. I felt a lot of death and agony coming our way back then, let me tell you! That and a nagging feeling that said that the Author had been CHEATING, getting Lilith's Quest tangled up with ours! Apparently, so did the Rules and Agents so it was challenged and our Quests got . . . reformatted? Lilith's Quest got rolled into Reika's Quest. Both of them (with OUR help) are now here to keep both Tabris and Rei I safe until we reach the control room of this Iconian teleport/gateway network I hear about and gain control of it. THEN the Quest will be over and we can go home in success. Or just return home in failure...but failure is not an option. That bastard Author will have those Halcons to play with in Game 3 if we fail in this Quest and that is NOT something I'd wish on anyone! For various reasons such as limitations of the gateway network and wishing to lessen the damage the damage the chaos energy that Rei I and Tabris through distance, we had to split into two smaller groups.
