"Great," said Stacy. "If you could just give me directions..." Not much more than five minutes later, she was knocking on the front door of the house where, she hoped, the rats were to be found. There was no reply. Perhaps Jimmy had gone to Albuquerque as well?

Stacy wasn't beaten yet, though. There was an outhouse that looked like just the sort of place where somebody might keep a rats' cage. She looked around, but there was no-one to see her. She pushed the door, and it opened. It was gloomy inside, but she found a switch and turned on the light.

  1. Damn! There was no sign of a cage.
  2. Yes, there was the cage!
  3. At that moment, a voice behind her said: "Turn round nice and slow, lady. This isn't a toy gun."
