"First tell me about the blood," said Stacy.

Paula responded with a long speech full of technical details about hemoglobin, Rh factors and DNA that Stacy couldn't completely follow, but her conlusions were understandable enough. "It isn't human blood," she said. "It isn't blood from anything that ever walked on this Earth." She paused, looking at Stacy meaningfully. "You tell me just where it is from."

Stacy sighed. "That's just it. I don't know." Convinced now that should could trust Paula, she began telling the story of her memory loss, and of what she had done since "waking up" on the subway this morning. Paula listened in silent fascination, and when Stacy had finished, she said:

1. "Listen, I know someone who specializes in memory recovery via hypnosis. Maybe he can help you."
2. "My god. You're not going to believe this, but you're the second person with amnesia I've encountered this week."
3. "Great. So now what do we do? Any chance we can figure out where these photos were taken?"
