Fred turns at the indicated doorway on the right as Merkalov the Sorcerer
had instructed. He casts his eye back, and Merkalov throws Fred a knowing
nod. He does not seem to be suspicious in any way. Fred steps through the
doorway, to find a stone chiseled room which had been cut from the rock
wall. There is a small round hole in the floor, where a foul odor emanates.
"No escape that way" Fred says to himself, feeling sick. Fred looks up and
sees a small grill on the ceiling, just out of reach. It must be some kind
of ventilation shaft. Four crude screws hold the grill in place. There does
not appear to be any other means of escape from this room.
