Apparently Diana did not share Astra's qualms, as when Fred approached her she was quite willing to commit herself and her two bodyguards for 8000 gold, well within Fred's budget. Fred wasn't quite sure why Diana thought that she needed bodyguards, if Astra did not. She seemed quite as tall and athletic as her cousin (and equally beautiful), and - though of the nobility - was not a princess, which surely if anything would reduce the risk that she might be kidnapped. Still, he wasn't going to complain. Originally he had hoped to hire only Astra for 10,000 gold, and now he was getting three warriors for 2,000 less.

  1. Furthermore, the bodyguards were female, and every bit as beautiful as Diana herself, which Fred thought was a definite plus.
