"Wh-what's happened to me?!" Fred screamed, looking at his hands which
had turned into pure light. His entire body was light now, including his
sword, which seemed to be a part of him. "You've been reborn as the Lightshadow!!" proclaimed the loud voice. "It is now your duty to assist the First for all eternity!!" "Lightshadow? Isnt that an oxymoron?" Fred asked. "Silence!" boomed the harsh voice. "Your fate has been decided! The Fourth shall guide you down the perilous platforms to the cliffs where the First has chained himself." "Me?! Why do I have to do it?!" the feminine sounding voice complained. "Now hold on a second!" Fred cried. "I dont get any of this. First I died, but then I wasnt dead, but then I died again and I get reborn?" "You dont need to understand, only obey. Or do you wish to pit your strength against us once more and embarrass yourself?" the harsh voice said. "Nah, I'll pass," Fred coughed. "Allright, let's go see this the First, just for continuity's sake. "Step onto the Platform of Judgement," the female voice commanded. A thin tendril of shadow extended out to point, and Fred thought he could almost make out a large metallic platform suspended by chains above an endless abyss. He did as he was told, and the female shadow creature slithered onto the platform next to him. A mechanism began to turn somewhere, and with a horrifying scream of grinding gears the platform began to descend." "This is all kinda low-tech for an afterlife, isn't it?!" Fred yelled, trying to make himself heard over the noise of the gears. "How long are we going to be descending, anyway?!" "Fifty of your human hours," the female voice replied. "Dang!" Fred whistled. "That's a long time."
