The Never Ending Quest - Episode 6686

K-News was part of a fifty-story skyscraper literally inches away from the East River. Dan pulled into a spot in a fairly empty garage that also has a great view of the river. Stacy climbed out of the dusty yellow Volswagon Beetle.
"Hold the handle up when you shut it or it won't." Dan called. Stacy did so. Dan rolled down his window. "I'll wait right here. Come back when you find something. If I'm not here, I'll be in the Burger King on the first floor."
Stacy nodded. Dan sure was a godsend. Of course, being the son of a preacher helped...
Two wide glass doors opened up into a thirty foot wide square lobby. A jumble of signs and arrows were tacked up all over. Stacy saw 'K-News' was down a hallway to the right. She followed it and pushed through two more wide doors.

A small, S-shaped waiting room greeted her. The carpet and chairs were dull-orange, the walls beige. A few enormous portaits of strange people posing with celebrities were on the wall.
At the end of the second curve, a receptionist looked up from behind her solid oak desk. (Solid oak!)
"Oh, it's you." she said. Her hair was red as blood and her nails were strangely sharp. "They're expecting you."
She pressed a button. The door at the end of the curve opened wide. Stacy stepped through the doors.
Three men stepped out.

  1. "Stacy!" they said. "You're not scheduled for today."
  2. Stacy passed the men and walked to her office. (After fooling an intern into showing her the way).
  3. Stacy was hustled onto the news room floor and plopped behind a desk. "Three. Two." chanted a man with a white mustache.
