This was a fortunate idea for the answering machine beeped then
said 'Hello, you have reached the business line for Stacy Andrews Jones,
comic
book artist for Marvel Comic Books. Current book, 'Avengers'. Please leave
a name and number at the beep and I will get back to you as soon as I am
available'.
Stacy breathed a deep sigh of relief. "I must have two phone lines." she
thought. Good news. She could hunt down Marvel Comics
and get her colleagues to help her out.
Then the message played. It was...
-
Stacy's father, calling to congratulate her on her job.
-
Stacy's boss, teling her they want her to touch up a few pages on 'Black Panther' because the current artist became ill.
-
an obscene phone call.
-
Stacy's sister, who was in a phone booth a couple blocks away and was crying hysterically because someone just tried to molest her.
-
Stacy's colleague, George Perez, calling to give tips on how to draw Giant-Man when he's, well, giant.
-
some loon calling himself Lord Fred who needs Stacy to join on a quest.
-
a female teenager who desperately warns Stacy that Sue is utterly insane.
