A bit Tired and Wired....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 65655

Elrondir

"Cousin Lilith, if he did not go insane in the first few moments then she'll recover," the blue winged woman says to her white winged twin, taking the other's fretting hand into her own. "She's stronger than she knows."

I have to shudder just slightly at the choice of wording that Rei just gave. She just unknowingly used exactly the same words that the boy's father (or should I say the TV counterpart) in describing Shinji.

All the same, Rei is right. This transformation that the now heavily sedated young woman before us is of the Matrix kind. From the confused (tinged with a growing angry) look in Lilith's face, I can tell that she does not understand what her "cousin" is getting at here.

"It has to do with the type of transformation that your son underwent," Rei continues, using a tone of voice I'd heard more than a few times during my time as student mage under Sigin.. Probably the better choice of tones of voice for those present here, if I do so say myself. While Lilith here may have been the actual mother of the human race for her reality (and thus could perhaps be the standard to measure against), I do not believe that she nor Dr. Ritsuko Akagi and Dr. McCoy would take kindly to be spoken to as if child (i.e a mother to child).

Oh, granted! Rei here (as like it had been said in the anime and such) has the making of a great mother. If nothing else she ahs a lot of donated background experience from "her" Yui Akari. Just the thing here is that these people she's speaking with . . . don't want to be talked down to. And speaking to them like they were children is definitely the way to get on their bad side.

But of course this is a given. Crap, you got to remember how these people reacted with they felt that they'd been marginalized in their fields of expertise? I for one do not care for a repeat and neither did Rei here!

Besides, not only does Lilith here want desperately want reassurance about the well being of her . . .er . . daughter's good fortune but she and the others here are (or had BEEN in in Lilith's case) men and women of learning. This is something that they want to learn about. A whole new field of study, you may say... Even IF it stems from a "discipline" they'd figure to be nothing but the stuff of myth and fantasy, at least in part for Dr. Akagi.

Though she calls HER field is more of a fusion of magery and science, what with the changes needed to her world's physics to make it compatible to THIS reality. Yeah, she calls it all science, but it is more like something like what you'd see from that one Japanese manga, Full Metal Alchemist. In THAT story alchemy is a science, even though alchemy is a field of magery from where I hale from.

Well, you get the idea I hope. That said, though, I kind of feel sorry for poor ol' Lilith! The changes to her old field of study since she'd been called "Yui Akari" has poor Lilith a bit taken aback, being that with all the alterations HER memories and knowledge had not been changed. She still remembers it the way it had originally been done...

. . .

Hm, with all this insanity I still have yet to hear in full what HER Validation Quest is here. And while I'm asking let us find out just how "far back" poor Ms. Shinji Akari's memories have been reset here as well! That shall be a part of the issue needing treatment here for her to adjust fully for her new . . . gender and other issues, let me assure you!

"Bottom line," Rei finishes up. "Since your child over there did not have a Matrix schism happen to drive him permanently and violently insane soon upon his transformation, it means that soon her . . . outlook and . . . eh. . . tastes shall soon turn to a female point of view. As if she'd been born to it."

That's just the way things work with Matrix level transformations, you see. The doctors and Lilith look at Rei, somewhat relieved at a passing danger. Still . . .

"From the way you tell it," Dr. McCoy mutters, pointedly ignoring Dr. Akagi (they don't get along). Instead, he looks at Rei. "It is almost like you have a LOT of experience with such matters, though you and your friends DID say that this Matrix . . . gobbledygook is still NOT exactly totally understood."

. . .

Sigh, at least he's no longer complaining about voodoo and drilling holes in our patient's forehead to let out the evil spirits. That little monologue he'd done had been under his breath and across the room from me and the others. Honestly, I am sure that he thought he'd said it softly enough to not be overheard so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, as insulting as I actually rather found it. Yes, I know that he'd been credited for saying that in a Star Trek movie. Betty and Ragan had raved about it and invited me to watch it to enjoy. However, something always seemed to come up to sidetrack me.

Said and done, that still doesn't mean I appreciate it being said in real life, especially when said comments are directed (in a fashion) towards ME. I don't like my talents and abilities being . . .

OH forget it.

But seriously you'd think that after noticing my ears and all his experience with Spock he'd have been clued in on something: NOT every species out there are as deficient in hearing as human beings! But for politeness' sake and continued smooth cooperation I shall not call him on this.

Had enough trouble smoothing things over between Asuka II (the middle child of the "Asuka" clan) and Dr. Ritsuko Akagi over that incident with the cell phone call. In the end, it was just a matter of understandable frayed nerves on Akagi's part and perhaps Asuka forgetting that in the rush of things that Dr. Akagi is as human as the next person? I mean, while it is policy (an IRON clad policy) to turn off ALL cellphones while within Central Dogma (the nerve center of NERV)

"You could say that," Rei smiles slightly, pulling out her PDA and showing a group picture of the Fred D'Honaire clan.

"A large part of my family has had personal experience in such matters," Rei finishes up to the now slightly wide eyed audience. "That and any first year apprentice would know of such things . . ."

The last part is directed more towards Dr. McCoy than anyone else here.

Rei

Sigh, I guess I've made my point here and shall not put in how my friend Fred Takahashi (himself a "Fred" analog, albeit of an Asian look) has some experience with this himself, if not directly. His (somewhat hair raising) experience had been with an analog of him who'd been transformed somehow into a female kitsune (of which the fact that she'd been given the name "Rei" I found . . . interesting). (re: 59116)

That had not been needed and I rather doubt he would have appreciated being brought into this for me to just "cop a schnook" as my father would put it.

I do believe that I have made my point well enough as it stands. I do not care to have my and my family's knowledge in what Dr. McCoy and the other Star Trekies . . .

. . .

Pardon, but I find that from time to time I find myself perhaps overly protective of those who taken me in as their own. For so long I had . . . nothing . . .

It is out of love, you must see. Well, at least I didn't REALLY overreact and try to "tear him a new one" as the saying goes. Dr. McCoy didn't mean to belittle us. The thing here is that for supposedly being so "urban", a little something like "magic" really throws them for a loop.

It annoys me more than it should, I admit. I'm sure that if I confronted him with my annoyance he'd look at me as if to ask WHY I found it annoying. But I fear that it's the way I am. That and I fear that we are ALL rather a bit put off from what's been going on up until now to various people, down here in the Geofront!

. . .

Gobbledygook and . . .

OKay Rei I believe you've rattled Dr. McCoy here enough, Uncle Elrondir sighs mentally. We're all a bit tired and a bit wired from what's been going on here.

Sigh, it is almost sad in a way for McCoy to be rattled by a simple picture of some of my kinfolk. Even IF that had been my intention, I'd only done it to get him to step back a little bit and back off. If I had REALLY wanted to shake him I could have just shown him an everyday item from back Home (aka the Military reality).

  1. If you'd had wished to really wished to rattle his cage though, Elrondir sends with a wry, slightly malicious grin. You could have told them about that one counter that had been cooked up against that infertility plague the Enemy had.
