"It is REALLY strange what's been going on. . . ," Sub Commander Misato Kauji begins, suddenly wishing after all these years for a good strong shot of beer like her younger analogs were having at the table.
She dared not, after that close call years ago after all the abuse her liver had gone through. Thankfully, the mystical . . . disease that had touched her had been curable --after much effort by both NERV medical staff and quiet a few healer mages . . . .she had not converted to any of the local priest and never had been much on faith back on "her" Earth so priestly help wasn't used--it had left lingering side effects on her. Serious side effects on her body that she would not wish on anyone at ALL! She was now, in effect, lethally allergic to alcohol. Not to the point that even the smell of beer made her nauseas at THIS range, but even the smallest ingested amount would put her into toxic shock. Too close and the smell would cause her to lose her lunch.... Not to say that that made her feel any better all the while back then while she had been suffering from delirium tremens. She damn near died from the treatment that had saved her life! She been screaming for something to ease the pain: hair of the dog as it were, despite knowing that it would have ... She looked back at that part of her life with more than a little shame. Shame at having unwittingly gotten herself to that point where her body had been so dependant upon alcohol that it had almost killed her from withdrawal symptoms. But then again, damnit, it wasn't like she had been anywhere NEAR the level considered alcoholic back on her old reality, socially or physically. But like so many things back on the Day of Transition, things . . . changed. And not all for the better in HER case. She did not look forward in informing her sisters here about the one aspect they'll also have to face. Shaking herself slightly, she got back to the task at hand. She informed the others that while the waylaid Children of her manga counterpart had been located, there had been . . . complications. "Eh. . . whatever exactly had happened to you also happened to Asuka at least . . . but more so," the Sub Commander begins. By now it was clear that the manga Katsuragi had, before showing up here, been herding "her" Shinji Akari to "his" Unit 01 in order to prevent Third Impact . She had been nearing the only available life to the launch bay left and . . . then she'd ended up here. Some kind of "reset" had happened (due to whatever "Lilith" as the manga version of Rei called herself nowadays had done) and people got moved about and in effect moved back in time, physically and mentally. In the case of the manga Katsuragi, she'd been moved back from the point (at a guess from a hesitant Elrdonir) she'd been fatally wounded to just a few seconds BEFOREHAND. For whatever reasons she had vague, dreamlike memories of what had happened to her, but that had been fading to nothingness even NOW. The now youthened manga Asuka, however, had been done to a point to where she is now a little girl of four. Things like that had to be due to this chaos energy stuff... As for "Lilith" (as the manga Rei now called herself), according to Reika and Rei, they'd come across the manga Dr. Akagi attempting to strangle her . . . "WHAT?!"both the younger Misatos shouted in shock. Later... Dr. Ritsuko Akagi (ala anime) "Physically she is okay," I say softly, looking down at the heavily sedated form before me. "What the long term effects this will have on her mental health . . . is yet to be seen." I have seen this young woman before as I'd grown up on the television, but to be honest I never thought to see her someone who should look like the live action version of one of the main characters from the anime Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water ! . . . You know, I sort of still see a bit of the old in the new female form that the manga version of the Third child has taken. Then again, Elrondir had muttered something about Shinji being Nadia given a masculine makeover. I see something of Shinji in this young, brown skinned girl's face as she lay before me. "My poor child," whispers the manga version of the First Children. This "Lilith" is not quiet what I had expected. Actually . . . none of the young women who'd been named "Rei Ayanami" (not even "my" own) have been acting the way I've come to expect of them! Christ! Just this morning she'd been the same, compliant windup doll that treacherous, cheating bastard Commander always wanted her to be! Now? Now? She's not the same person that I'd come to hate, a rival for Gendo's attention. Not to say that Gendo's attention is something I want now (or that SHE wants now). . . . She'd rather spit on that murderous SOB than look at him and I'm in agreement with Reika there. It is just that with all the changes that have come all of the sudden, I find I can . . . I find that I'm actually beginning to LIKE this young woman! Yes, with me not needing or wanting GENDO anymore I know that there . . . really isn't much of a reason to hate that blue haired woman but . . . the woman that Reika has become is . . . .quiet amazing. So after looking back I am more than happy to have accepted her offer of a truce. Or maybe I am so willing to reverse my opinion of my long time supposed rival because of . . . the OTHER. . . . I just do not (and do not want) to even attempt to understand why my doppleganger STILL insists on wanting to be with "her" Gendo Ikari. Is that b*tch blind? Doesn't she understand that she's being used?! Is she an idiot version of me? I could almost say it being so, after she went and tried to KILL Lilith here! Yeah, tried tocontinue to strangle Lilith here I could perhaps see when suddenly (by what I understand of it) suddenly the girl sprouts angelic wings and all. Probably thought in a panic that Lilith's angellic side was manifesting and would strike her down? No matter. She is now under lock and key and I cannot feel anything but pity . . . and . . . love for her. . . . She is me . . . .just further on down the line, twisted under Gendo's spell. Yes, it is part of the doppelganger/analog reaction the newcomers speak of, but I fear . . . I shall always remember this day if only for that. Honestly, after that particular incident I am amazed that Lilith here (formerly Rei Ayanami of the manga, formerly Yui Akari of the manga) would let me even touch her son . . .er . . . daughter? Maybe it is because while perhaps Dr. McCoy over there happens to hale from a higher tech level (with all those almost magical medical tools from Star Trek), the thing is his gear is mostly up in the Enterprise (and thus out of reach). Oh, did I fail to mention that we cannot raise anyone outside of city limits, much less outer space? So sorry, with everything else it must have slipped my mind! Choas Energy! I have . . .never seen anything like it before now and I hope to NEVER see it's effects again, after this Quest nonsense is done! It surrounds Tokyo 3 and makes going outside city limits on foot or vehicle . . . risky. Some who tried never returned. Some just . . . bounce off what appears to be an invisible wall. Some go off into the mist and you hear their screams turn into something inhuman. Sometimes what returns is only slightly transformed but still . . . a person. Sometimes what returns is nothing short of a monsters bent on bloodletting. Bottom line, Tokyo 3 is under siege and to make matters worse this Chaos Energy hasn't stayed beyond the city limits. Some flare ups have caused what has befallen the now female Nadia . . .er. . . .Shinji I'm treating for shock. Quiet a few of the JSSDF commanding officer's troopies he called girls just happen to BE such now, as well. Hrmph, now his "girls" (as he fondly called his troops) really ARE that... Some quiet . . . wanton, rumor has it. Something that a young man by the name of Scott Chen from Game 3 (the place that this "Chaos Energy" originated from) could tell me all about, according to B'Elanna. This said . . . Uh, been kind of busy taking care of my own, or nearly my own in the form of Pilot . . . in the form of Ms. Shinji Akari here. He'd . . .uhmph, she'd been quiet besides herself when Alan Quatermain brought him and the other Shinji Akaris in from outside. Honestly, I and the others here at NERV (manga and anime) were more than a bit shocked about this turn of events ourselves! Well, at least we don't have to worry about megalomaniacs with the name Gendo Akari running wild. The manga one (having been "reset" like everyone else had been right in the middle of accepting the switch of operations from the JSSDF to NERV According to what tests I and some of the newcomers could do (my medical equipment for me and magic for them), the transformation goes down to the genetic level and . . . it is permanent. Oh good god, if this Shinji Akari is as bad off as "mine" is then this could turn out VERY ugly when she finally sleeps off the sedative I gave her!
