Hilda shook her head in frustration. She felt that she had almost managed
to put her finger on what was wrong for a moment, but now it had slipped
away again.
Gilda had seen Hilda shaking her head. "What's the matter?" she asked her twin. That surprised Hilda. She had expected that, if she had felt a wrongness, then her sister would have done so too. After all, they thought so very much alike. "Something's not right," she said. "Can't you feel it?" Gilda shook her head, sending her long brown hair (the only way in which she differed from her twin, whose hair was red) flying. "No," she said. "Let's wash and then see about breakfast. I'm starving." She scrambled to her feet. Large though the tent was, she had to stoop slightly, as it could not quite accommodate her full nine feet six inches.
