A Time for Rest?

The night watch was set up - Fred took first watch allowing the women to
rest. Diana took second watch - though somewhat
malnourished after her stay in the Caves, she was nonetheless a warrior
from a race of warriors. It was agreed that third watch would be shared
by the Lady Sara and the Princess Sophie. It was during the third watch
that Imelda woke up screaming.
Fred and Diana jumped to their feet, weapons in hand. Sophie ran to comfort the crazed woman, the others were too startled themselves to do anything right away. Diana put out the low fire almost immediately. Once Imelda was brought to quiet sobs, the other women attempted to comfort her - in between tears she spoke of a terrible nightmare. Meanwhile Fred and Diana kept their eyes peeled to the hillside. The screams would have attracted any night creature - and on the Shreken, there were undoubtedly many night creatures. "We are in grave danger," Diana whispered to Fred. "I agree," he responded. "We should move, yet I do not know if these women can handle it." "We'll force them," retorted Diana. "Our lives are at stake - you are a fighter, a leader among men, I am used to commanding women--" "Amazon women," said Fred cutting her off. "We have many tales of your kind in my land. You are ruthless on the battlefield and your strength is reknowned. But these women," he said sweeping his arm at the group about Imelda, "are not amazons, they are not fighters, they are Ladies." Diana spit. "Lady, in my language, amongst my people, means strength and valor and power. You use it as if it means weakness. If that is the case with these northwomen, then they deserve to die."
