"Can't or won't?" Astra Blue asked.

"Can't. I'm sorry." Then Blue Astra caught herself. "Why am I apologising to you? You were trying to kill me, and I defended myself in the only way I knew how. If I had not transformed you, I had every reason to think that when you came round, even without your sword you would have remained a threat to me. Had I still been my original self, you would have died when you attacked me, so you have been fortunate."

"No, you would have died. I wasn't expecting to face magic. That was what saved you"

"Perhaps. Anyway, even if I could have turned you back, I am sure that it would have been wrong to do so. Though you have promised not to kill me, you would have killed others. I don't accept that even such a worthy end as yours seems to be can justify taking innocent lives. And it was creating a darkness within you, whether you choose to believe it or not, for what you were doing could not help but corrupt you. Now that you are a blue faerie, that darkness is rapidly dissipating."

1. More argument ensues.
2. Astra Blue concedes that Blue Astra might be right.
3. A groan indicates that Fred is coming round.
