"Never mind." said Lord Fred. "Forget what I said. Killing the dragon and providing proof will put me forever in your debt."
Without nothing happening at all, the dragon's head appeared at Lord Fred's feet. In return, the wizard asked to be first on the list if the king ever needed to hire more magicians. Fred agreed. Time passed. Fred had hooked up the head to a cart drawn by a team left in the care of a nearby village. Velus, a stabeboy, was walking with the horses as them and Fred left for the castle, making sure the tick he noticed in Suse, the lead horse, was well and truly gone. After a few miles, he turned back for home. Fred was slightly worried for the lad, for he had seen many strange things heading away from the dragon's caves. The dark shapes flitting through the woods did not emit an aura of menace, however, and if Velus stayed to the road he should be safe. Five minutes passed.
