Face to face

"Fred, Fred!!" Astra calls out in her new, high fairy voice. Desperation in her voice to be heard through the heavy, closed door to the library, hoping to get the knights attention.

In the end, it is not Fred who hears Astra's altered, tiny voice but Velus. With his keen hearing (what with him being a DOG and all that), the boy turned dog hears what Fred fails to hear.

Whining and pawing, Velus finally manages to get Fred to go back to the doorway they'd gone through and open it. Astra flies in and floats before a gobsmacked Fred. Oh, at first it was startling enough to have a blue fairy fly up to you (much less a naked one), but when Fred got a REALLY good look at Astra . . .

1. "What happened to you?" Fred finally manages to ask, blinking.
