Pronklezilch Again

"He's a vindictive man," Astra said. "When he transported us to that lonely road, with no idea of how to fend for ourselves, I think that he expected us to die. And so we probably would have, if we hadn't been lucky enough to stumble across Norla's cottage. I imagine that he has just discovered that we are still alive, and wants to subject us to more unpleasantness."

"So why didn't he snatch us rather than the other three?"

"I can explain that," Vincent said. "When Norla and I restored the two of you to your right minds, if I can put it like that, I took the precaution of protecting you with some magic wards at the same time, just in case. It's lucky that I did. If I hadn't, and he wanted to harm you, he wouldn't even have needed to snatch you but could have done so whilst you remained here."

"It wasn't so lucky for my daughter," Helia pointed out. "You've got to get her back."

"That could be easier said than done," Vincent admitted. "I hope that Norla may be able to provide the three of them with a measure of protection, though. Pronklezilch may find her a tough nut to crack. I wonder what's gone wrong with him. It was only ten years ago that we last met, and he seemed perfectly normal then - at least by wizard standards...

1. "I'll try to get the three of them back for you."
2. "There's nothing that I can do from a distance. Prozlezilch's defences are sure to be too strong. The best plan may be to let him think that he's won, and to send Freda and Astra to him. The wards will provide them with some protection."
