The First Child and the Rule

Rei III

There is something decidely . . . off about this grey skinned man who seems to have come from out of thin air. A decided air of might, I could almost say. Definitely feel a need to proceed with caution, in any event. There actually is no outward sign that says that this rather plainly dressed man (in a slightly out of date business suit) in glasses would warrant the feelings of . . . dread I feel in his precense, but all the same I feel I must be careful in my words and actions.

Whatever the case I see that my sister is very pleased to see this stranger in our midst. That and the one who had helped me to my feet in aid appears to be VERY discomforted in this gray man's presence.

Fascinating.

"Nice to see you as well Rei," the Rule says, smiling back at Rei II. "Pardon though while I talk with Lilith here."

A look of almost absolute terror passes over Lilith, which then has a mix of surprise (and perhaps dismay) at what is said next directly towards her. She appears to know this stranger as well, and is NOT comfortable at all around him.

In any case, before I could raise my voice in protest towards this gray man who had frightened Mother Lilith--THIS is the one who's DNA I have a share in, I shall let you know--it flattens me as well in shock!

"Or would you prefer I call you Rei . . . or even Yui Akari?" the gray skinned man asks softly to Lilith. "Unlike your twins over there all three names apply directly to you as a person, my dear former Angel."

. . . .

Wha . . . excuse me? Did I just hear right? Any other time I would have never questioned my ability to hear and comprehend what I hear and am told. I perhaps am a clone of someone who no longer was amongst the living, but not only was I modified by having Angel DNA inserted into the . . . gaps to make for a viable entity but there had been a "tweeking" of parts. Dare say that I have a few things OVER the original human donor, someone I had no idea (or real care since the past was not an issue to me and the future was in the hands of NERV's leading head). I had always been very much concentrating on the present.

But with those few words from this gray man just set my mind to distraction with a creeping idea of what it meant. I can gather that he means that Lilith--this particular one for I believe that SOMEHOW, there is something in the air telling me that this is NOT quiet the world I'd left . . . do not ask me how I feel this--had actually BEEN not only a version of me (a young woman with red eyes, pale skin, and blue hair) but also Shinji Akari's mother?!

How? Granted, I know that at least something lingers on after death. Something allows for the transfer of a person's . . .psyche from one vessel to another. After all, I am in my third body (the first having died at the hands of one Dr. Akagi senior and the other vaporized from self-destructing my Eva unit in order to defeat that last Angel). At least for the process used for ME, a mere replication in the physical doesn't cut it, a little something . . . . mystical is needed at least from where I hale from.

Don't know what it is like from where you come from, but that is the reality I live with.

That said, I still must say . . . .Did I hear right?! Did I understand correctly? Did this gray man just say, indirectly, that-that . . .this reality's Lilith, Rei, and Yui Akari are all one and the same?!

"I also have rather similar business with Rei III," the Rule adds (just a trace of a smile on his lips), looking over at the red winged twin of mine. "A matter of the Champion Question, shall we say?"

"Huh?" I and the other females in the room blink and ask. Mine is given of blankly, but others . . . I detect varying degrees of surprise.

What IS this business with Champions? What is this gray man talking about.

The remaining animated figures in this room freeze, and I find that suddenly I and this entity (a Rule find out) are the only one's moving.

1. "Okay, before we begin I ask you to indulge me and not right off the bat believe that I'm attempting to deceive you," the Rule begins. "Here, let your sister be something of a witness too my character?"
