SHE is somehow actually Lilith . . . and after somehow having been divorced from her old Angelic body she was now back, in her rightful form! . . . Okay, now is a time to recap because of all the twists and turns. It starts actually simple enough, a young girl had been gifted on her 18th birthday a special gift: a Quest. Being that Champions seem to have an innate need for Quests, this had been a welcome one indeed, especially since the place finally chosen was a mirror image of the shallow and sad life she'd led before becoming a Champion and gaining a family within those ranks. The other factions involved would be from a Star Trek: TOS reality, a Half-life reality, and actually some people from her old hometown, Tokyo 3 (20 years after she’d left, by local calendar). All these factions were going to be meeting each other, somehow, due to a blending of realities. Long story that we needn’t go into right now, the blending. Anyway, the idea alone that she could be able to again speak with long time associates actually thrilled her (especially being able to speak with “her” Shinji Akari), and that was enough for taking it, but . . .there was more. Oh, she would take this Quest, alright! She'd have done it alone if need be (and her family had known this when they'd stepped up to come along). See, while she was going to DO the Quest for the main purpose it was intended to be for, she was also doing it for personal reasons. She had a personal agenda. She knows that in the big chorus of song that makes up the story of this reality she shall be visiting is one sad, beautiful woman named Rei Ayanami , and by facts given to her by those who’d given this quest she knew that she was in a bad way. That was one personal reason, anyway. She wanted to help this young woman who she felt was a sister in need. Yes, the Quest the Champions were to given was to do what was needed to lessen tensions between different groups so needless bloodshed and warfare be avoided, but there still is the very personal reason for going. The others had come along to better the admittedly long odds, that’s true enough. Honestly, they had managed some rather incredible feats on their own AND together, but to help their young charge with her personal agenda? Honestly, that is also why the others came along, in a way. Contact was made with the “native” Rei (Rei III) and the one who now calls Terra Prime her home. Again, ostensibly to gain access to the chain of command of NERV but in reality it was ALSO to give back what she had lost from having died and being brought back through one of the many dozen clone bodies held on standby for such cases. See, Rei III is the third one in this timeline to have this name. She had lost memory and experience from her prior incarnation and was feeling . . . lost and confused, wondering just WHY she was crying and what it all meant. She felt hollow and lost inside. Confused as to why she couldn’t understand. And at this point this was where Rei II walked into her life. The plan had been simple enough and the plan had been stuck too, more or less. Make contact with the native Rei and offer her the gift which would restore her memories to herself with the hope that the usual rampart analogs/dopplegangers seem to experience (it appeared that the more well known negative reaction of dopplegangers ending up doing the other in through an overwhelming hatred was the exception and not the rule). It was hoped that she would accept and lo, she DID. Very heart touching scene really. But as it were events would intervene and make haste necessary for the Champions. Originally, the idea had been after a bit of chitchat and sharing between the new sisters, the spoofing needed in order to keep unwanted attention away from this little scene (Rei III’s apartment was under constant surveillance, Commander Gendo Ikari’s orders) the spoofing would end. The rather angered Section 2 agents of NERV (the security/intel people of that organization) would HAVE to have some kind of meeting (and perhaps want to interrogate) the Champions, but enough would be said (certain keywords that only a few IN THE KNOW should know!) given by the Doctor in order to make . . . some kind of caution warranted. Make them believe that perhaps maybe they SHOULD allow some kind of controlled . . . meeting between the Commander of NERV and this group should take place. From there, it was HOPED that some kind of arrangement could be made to have a meeting with SEELE to make them see that perhaps trying to initiate 3rd Impact (which couldn’t be done anyway due to certain key components being now dead and gone due suddenly being in a reality which nulled their ability to exist). And should it become necessary if SEELE and the head of NERV should not yield to reason, then a little . . . gift left behind in some select computer servers. If the Champions should have to FIGHT their way out of the lions’ den or for whatever other reason the coding line isn’t given in a certain timeframe, the servers would start broadcasting far and wide almost all of the dirty laundry about both NERV and SEELE. Oh, not everyone would be implemented in the scandal, but a lot of men and women who’d dirtied their hands in matters (such as actually being responsible for 2nd Impact which killed billions and trying to bring about 3rd Impact to finish up things) it would be a VERY interesting and difficult life afterwards indeed. Point in fact the public would BE so outraged that the nearest lamppost would NOT be close enough.... The Champions all hope that such extreme measures weren’t needed YET, but then again SEELE appears to be Hellbound on having 3rd Impact and Instrumentality happening. Religious zealots, really, in search for their own version of Heaven and willing to do whatever necessary to bring it about. The may not take kindly to this new truth. And besides, that coding would only delay the broadcasting, not annul it. . . . SEELE and the NERV HQ high command had SOMETHING coming to them for what they had done. . . . IF things were like they’d been in the anime, that is. If it was, then the truth coming out a few MONTHS after this Quest was done would go along way to justice served in some fashion or form. If it proved that there were extenuating circumstances, then Inquirer and the others would null the “gift” out permanently. It was bad enough to have to even think about dealing with NERV and SEELE, but since those two would be one side of what could be a three way war, it was needful to deal with them. Oh, the truth (or whatever you call the information garnered from the anime) could be broadcasted and both organizations put out of a job (and then some), but that also invited a chaotic power vacuum. Maybe the world government (the UN of all things in this reality . . . God help us) could pull things together enough to make sure things didn’t fall into anarchy, but why risk it? THEN, after hopefully winning some cooperation from both groups in at least not doing anything rash (yet) like say . . . attacking NERV HQ or some other foolishness (it was felt that whatever trouble would come that could start off a three way would come from such things, somehow). However, it appears that other parties had already started making mischief. Point in fact, it was from the Half-life quarters. Trouble that if continued could spill over into other fronts. How? Well, in answer to that question it has all to do with a certain event (accidental or not will never be fully known) that was caused by an experiment gone awry at a place called Black Mesa. In the game, it had torn holes in the walls of space/time, causing passages (shortcuts) between far away places. It appears to have done the same thing in “real life” but the reality will be far more . . . reaching. Anyway, if things had gone as they’d gone in the video game this reality reflected, then it would have been to an alien and hostile realm. A borderworld/reality next to that Earth of Half-life (Hal-life Earth?) where alien entities dwelled with malicious plans for that blue-green world who would invade and enslave her, defeating that Earth’s combined military forces in almost under seven hours. That did not happen and despite fears of one shallow faced, vivid green eyed business suit type with ambiguous goals may have, it never shall happen. The real estate that belongs to the Half-life Earth (it’s entire solar system and then some) got displaced and placed . . . elsewhere, well out of reach of hostile border worlds.
