Rei II "I said call for backup NOW!" Inquirer practically screams into the impassive face of the agent herding us to an awaiting van. "Damnit, are you blind?!: . . . . What IS it with this world's Section 2?! My God, how could they have been so incompetent to have allowed this?! How in the name of God could they have allowed . . . allowed it? Even the least experience member of this group spotted them. I only have a passing knowledge of the "cloak and dagger" business, and I only know what I'd learned from Elrondir and Inquirer. A BLINDMAN could have spotted the warning signs! The impending mayhem. The odd bulges under coats and such. Bulges that speak of armed men. How could anyone that heavily armed have gotten close enough to the escort group around Rei III to even attempt snatched her up?! Where are the backup units? Where are the police blocking off non-official traffic on the streets to be used? My GOD, Elrondir is correct, Section 2 ARE a bunch of F*cktards! We trusted . . .actually trusted them enough to ferry my sister to a safehouse, despite dark mutterings that if these agents were like the anime episode where the very second highest official should have been snatched away while on the grounds of the holies of holies, NERV HQ (their backyard) then we're making a big mistake. Heck, he'd even mutter something about a young girl being able to trip these guys up. . . .hiding from their hunting parties. They are. Don't ask me how or why, but they ARE!! We should have done this job, not them. Not THEM! "Hey, go get those bastards!" screams the head agent, for the moment forgetting us and pointing at Rei II's would be kidnappers. . . . . A little too late there, dipsh*t. Shit, this is falling apart before we even begin, I hear Elrondir call out to the others. Time for plan B because these idiots couldn't be trusted with a dead cat! Plan B has . . . problems. I mean it is what we'd toyed around with beforehand. We'd rather stepped on a lot of toes with that little stunt with the cameras in my sister's place, spoofing them so we could give back what she'd lost without interruption (or awkward questions afterward). That had to have generated a LOT of ill will towards us from those Section 2 agents. We might have shown them up (again) and made them even LESS likely to cooperate with us by breaking away from them in such a spectacular manner (bruised ego is the thing here). If we should FAIL in our efforts to rescue my sister . . . then we've pretty much put to paid any chance of reaching the upper hierarchy of NERV HQ through Section 2! We've got a message to deliver (and a harsh one at that for SEELE if we're to succeed in our mission), but how exactly we've yet to share with you. . . . Now, that's sounds all very dry and even a bit cynical if you thought that had gone through my mind while Rei III is in danger here. But you must understand I'm just sharing something we'd discussed in contingency planning well before my visiting my sister. Right now? I am TOO enraged and scared to think about the "big picture". Yes, in the end we had come here on a Quest for rather noble purposes (in my opinion) . . . but there is a decided personal reason behind it as well: my sister could get harmed here in all of it if we're not careful or FAST here! "REI!!" I scream, flinging caution to the wind as I shrug off the hands of the Agents who were still trying to herd me along with the others. The simple illusion I'd placed upon my wings drops as I spread them and take flight. Forget them! As far as I am concerned they can BURN for their stupidity! So wrapped up in paying attention to US instead of at least keeping an eye on their surroundings! God only knows where they' actually have taken US by mistake, being that I figure they cannot even find their own buttocks with a Geiger counter and a radioactive suppository!! This will cause all sorts of panic and surprise, but I find that right then and there I couldn't care much less. Besides, the others pretty much have decided to do the job that these goons singularly seem unable to do. Where these Agents cannot escort a young girl to safety, then it falls upon US to do it! Later and fair dues, I will find out that the reason why their efforts had been only slipshod at best was that things back in NERV had been turned upside down and panicky because of a LOT of teleportation incidents (ala Half-life). Everyone was acting like a chicken with the head cut off! . . . In another setting, it would be funny the looks of shock and fear on the agents' faces as my wings become evident, making me look more like the classic angel than some of the invaders who've been making life difficult for Tokyo 3. Bet you they're going to be calling for backup NOW, being that even these puzzlewits know that Angels have AT fields. Their popguns, they mistakenly believe, wouldn't even nick me because of that.
