Catch 22 in chapter 61453

He stopped abruptly, noticing the odd looks Astra, the monster and even Velus were giving him. "There's always a catch," he muttered as he opened the book on a random page.

"Isn't there a spell you can cast on him?" Astra suggested.

"I don't think so," Fred replied. "Spells in small books are usually of one kind. But maybe I can teach our friend just enough to read this spell."

Fred walked over to the monster and held up the book so they both could see the page. It happened to be written in some exotic language, but Fred was undaunted.

"This is a greb," he explained, pointing to the first character. "It is pronouned HGNF'-" He started coughing.

"What peculiar pronounciation," Astra remarked sarcastically.

"Sorry. The coughing isn't really part of it, I just got some saliva down my windpipe. Happens every time you say HGNF'-" He couched again.

"Thanks for the demonstration," the monster remarked. "But don't you think you should find a spell we both can pronounce?"

"You have a point there."

1. Fred finds a more suitable spell.
2. He finds a more pronouncable spell, but it's on a loose page, and he doesn't realize it's from a different book.
3. Velus finds another book.
4. All the coughing has attracted unwanted attention.
5. Fred needs a lozenge.
