Fred removes the gag from the man's mouth.
"Thank the gods that you have found me before that evil creature could eat me!" exclaims the man. Fred points the dagger at the man and asks, "How do I know I can trust you?" The man recognizes the dagger that Fred is holding. "That dagger you have can detect shape shifters," he starts. "If you are holding it and a shapeshifter is nearby, it takes control of your body and makes you kill it. I would be dead now if I was a shape shifter." Fred pauses a moment to take in this new information. The dagger had already shown its power to him back in the cave, so this man must be telling the truth. Fred unties him. "What's your name?" The man asks. "My name is Lord Fred, and I am on a quest to slay the dragon of the Southern Caves!" The man bows down on one knee in front of Fred. "My Lord! 'Tis a noble quest indeed! May I join you?" "What is your name?" "My name is Sir Edward, my lord. I am a Knight of a lordless relm and came here to prove my worth to the people. I had hoped that my conquest here would allow me to return and become ruler, but I was tricked by a naked woman and captured. I am not worthy to be ruler and it will do me great honor to be your servant." Fred pondered this change of events. He knew that in order to slay a dragon, he would need allies, and what better ally than a knight? "You may join me, Sir Edward. May we be victorious in the field of battle!" Fred returns the magic knife to Edward. What happens next?
