The Company of the Green Eye

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 5928

The Company of the Green Eye was made up of fourteen battle-hardened veterans, who for various reasons, had been kicked out of their homelands. They did gripe and grumble about the new guy giving them mapping duty, but at least they had full leave to slaughter any monstrosities that would get in their way. A few of them had heard tales of the Dragon Slayer, a powerful lass that killed yes dragons, but other evils more deadly and worse. Though these men were willing to do pretty much anything for gold, the lure of battling evil to save innocents (for one never warred on innocents, despite one's colleagues who may be paid to torch towns) was really something...interesting.

The fourteen men were assigned the various waterways that branched off from the lake near the main entrance to the caves. Smugglers were known to scoot through here, risking the ire of the dragon but safe from those who wouldn't dare venture a foot into the caves.

The first day was terribly uninteresting. They covered ground all knew well and several fights broke out over whether the water stream for the infirmary really branched to the north or the south.

The second day, however, they came to unfamilar territory. (Nearly a full day of walking, mapping and fighting would do that). Really unfamilar territory. There was a lake in the shape of an arrow and at the tip, water flowed up a mold encrusted wall and entered a man sized tunnel.

Forsythe, the leader, decided to make camp for eight hours of rest. He assigned first shift sentry duty to Tetch, the hairiest man alive and Bash, an archery expert (ask him for his real name, he removes some of your fingers).

Seconds before they were due to wake Cudgel and Stew...

  1. ...something involving a busted hammer happens.
  2. ...well, actually nothing happened. Cudgel and Stew took over.
  3. ...Tetch was shot by a tranquilzer dart.
  4. ...an incompetent band of adventurers, who so far had survived by sheer luck, show up to kill the dragon.
