Andrea tried not to pay attention during the ceremony, this was still too
much. Being married to a Demon Lord that, she heard, demanded virginal
sacrifice? Things couldn't be worse. Or so she thought.
"Here, milady, take this as a wedding gift" said Jeff. As he bowed to Andrea, he pulled his handkerchief out of his pocket and presented it to her. Andrea recognized what it was immediately - the Golden Dishcloth of Righteousness. "But Jeff," Andrea still had to get used to actually calling her newly wed husband by his first name, "how did a Demon Lord like you get the Golden Dishcloth of Righteousness?" "Milady, perhaps you would not believe this, but I am a relatively benign Demon Lord. Most of the stories about me are lies spread by my rival, Julius the Demon Lord. Pretty much all I do is run the Abandoned Castle of Spookiness. I have to make sure the castle seems abandoned, and spooky, and come up with new ideas for making it even spookier. And sure, I have to kill a few travelers here and there through mystical means, but otherwise the castle would lose its spookiness. Everyone loves a tale where someone goes into a house and never comes out. Anyway, one day I was adding some zombies to the catacombs and I came across it. I had no idea what it was, but it made a fine and impressive handkerchief." And thus Andrea completed her quest for the Golden Dishcloth of Righteousness, albeit in a rather unorthodox fashion. It took a little while to get used to the idea of being married to a Demon Lord, but after a couple of days of a very awkward relationship, Andrea realized that, as far as Demon Lords went, Jeff was a pretty decent one. He didn't force himself upon her, as a lot of Demon Lords would do. He respected her bounds as a person and her independence as an adventurer. He let her explore the castle and beamed when she told him of the things she had found while adventuring. Jeff had no idea there were so many valuable artifacts just waiting for questers to pick up. About a month later, Jeff surprised her in the Foyer of Unbearable Heat (FUH). As the heat really was unbearable, Andrea had stripped down naked as she explored the area. Even after becoming comfortable enough to share a bed with him, Andrea still wasn't used to Jeff looking at her naked body. "I am sorry to startle you, milady, but there is something I request of you." Being a Demon Lord, Jeff was impervious to the searing heat, and mocked her by putting on a parka. "Andrea, my beloved wife, when you first met me you were on a quest, which was solved in a most gratifying fashion. Now, I ask that you undertake a quest for me." Jeff snapped his fingers, and they were teleported back to their bedroom, where Andrea put on some clothes rather appropriate for questing. Jeff lay down on the bed, which was rather luxurious if you discounted the metal skulls at the top of each bedpost. "My rival Julius the Demon Lord is growing more powerful by the day. Through my contacts I have learned that yesterday, a minion of Julius the Demon Lord snuck into the castle and hid a Demon Lord Destroying Serum (DLDS) somewhere in this castle. Although the minion was summarily caught, tortured, and executed, he only divulged what the object he had hidden in the castle was under torture, nothing else. I assume Julius thought either I would go after it myself, as touching even the bottle in which the serum is encased would destroy me, or he would send another minion to retrieve the serum once he thought I had forgotten about it, and thus destroy me. So, my lovely wife, I beseech you to search this castle, find the Demon Lord Destroying Serum, and destroy it." Altogether, Jeff wasn't that bad, especially for a Demon Lord. She was - she hated to admit it - almost falling in love with him. And besides, getting a real quest again would be fun. So she hugged her Demon Lord husband and told him she would start immediately. But how should she start her quest?
