After all, there would have been little point in using Fred and Astra if he still ended up taking a huge risk himself. No, entering the Three Kingdoms, and almost inevitably setting off a magical alarm that would alert their mages to his presence, would be very much a last resort,

Meanwhile Fred, Astra and Velus were making their way into the unknown. Not that at first sight the region that they were traveling through looked any different from the Allarian countryside which they had left behind.

1. A few hours later they made their last overnight stop before their final destination.
2. Though Minestus was now much closer, the magical "fence" between them was making it difficult for him to keep up the illusion of Astra's fawn dress. He decided that it must be replaced by something skimpier that would drain his energy less.
