The man found himself in a rocky field that sloped down to a strange town.
It was noon but warm. Nearby was a small dog and two naked women. One of them waved their arms and they both became clothed. "Much better." said the magic user. "I just wish I knew how that happened. I have the strangest feeling I couldn't before...due to something." The man said loudly, "Excuse me, who are you? For that matter, who am I?" Nobody knew who anyone was, not even the dog, who was a human trapped inside a dog's form. For some reason, all three understood the dog's barks as speech, though the magic user had not done anything. "I remember..." said the user, as they walked towards the town. "Some magic takes time to work. A translation spell is tricky." The other woman raised an eyebrow. "How come you can remember magic but not your own name?" "Magic sinks in, far deeper then the memories of your own name go. Wizards theorize that magic lives in a different spot inside your lungs then the memories of your name or your home or your favorite pie live." The man liked applie pie. The woman continued. "Oddly enough, when I used magic just then, I felt a tingle in my brain.". "Silly." said the dog. "Brains control sleeping. That's it." "I'm not so sure." said the man. "After all, my brain hurts and I did just forget a whole cartload of my life." He wanted to continue but by then they were in town. But where to go?
