Fred waited in complete silence, hoping to feel the floor carry them up,
but instead, he heard a shrill scream filled the room, breaking the quiet
atmosphere in the room. "What wrong?!" cried Fred, rushing over to Exotica, who was on her knees, grasping her ears as if she were hearing the cries of a thousand banshee. She fell to the floor and proceeded to twist and turn, her screaming only getting louder. She seemed to have forgotten he existed. Fred had learned what to do in many unexpected scenarios in his Knight training, but nothing could have prepared him for this. Before he could decide what to do. Exotica rolled on to her stomach, now grabbing the upper-part of her buttock, the screaming failing to decrease. Fred could think of nothing to do except gently rub her back. In about a minute, give or take a few, Exotica’s screams began to quiet down before dieing out completely. Slowly, with Fred’s assistance, she stood up, panting. Seconds later, her arms slowly began moving up to her face, and began studying her large, fuzzy, ears.”Looks like even dragons have a sense of humor” said Exotica darkly. They had climbed back up the stairs to the outdoors again and were trying to make sense of what had just happened. “It could be worse.” Said Fred, trying to comfort her, as best her could (but not doing so well). “You could have turned into a full rabbit. At least all you have are ears and tail”. ”Easy for you to say” she scowled. “You didn’t get the feeling of a sharp pole was ripping through your head and torso.” Fred sighed. He couldn’t blame her for being in such a foul mood. He’d have felt the same way if he’d have grown ears and tail and gone through torture.”There has got to be more to this spell than meets the eye” Exotica said, continuing to examine her new body parts. “The worst is yet to come. I’ll probably become a full rabbit before this is over.” You’re being superstitious” said Fred, walking over and putting his arm on her shoulder. “I’m sure this is nothing more than a nasty joke”, though he wasn’t fully convinced he was right.After another short break, they made plans and decided to make sure there was no way to re-enter the cave from outside before stepping back into the descended chamber. As they examined the outdoor area, the curse upon Exotica was continuing its course. Exotica prediction had been correct. The curse wasn’t over yet.
