When they came across the scene, the bandits noticed Fred and ran off. The
travellers were two males, one who went and knelt over the body of a
horse. He appeared to be crying. The other walked over to them and greeted
Fred when he got off his horse. "Your arrival came at a most fortuitous time, Sir Knight. My name is Cedric, and my colleague er, is also called Cedric. To tell us apart, I am the Younger, and he is the Elder. His horse is gravely injured, and I fear he may die. Can you lend assistance?" Fred turned to Ambaric, who dismounted and walked over to the grieving Cedric the Elder. He put his hand on the man's shoulder and said a few words. Cedric the Elder reluctantly moved away from his clearly beloved horse. Ambaric got something out of a pouch and sprinkled it over the ailing horse. He chanted a few words that the others only caught fragments of and soon the laboured breathing of the horse became steadier slowly becoming normal. Ambaric stood back and let the horse get shakily to it's feet. Giving a neigh as in thanks to Ambaric, it trotted over to Cedric the Elder and gently nuzzled his hand as if to say, I'm better now. No need for you to cry. Giving a beam of joy that lit his face, he give his horse a hug before mounting up with an agileness that belied his age. Ambaric went back over to Fred and Astra, but before he could mount his horse, Cedric the Younger took hold of his arm and shook it so hard Ambaric felt it was almost going to come out of its socket. "Thank you, thank you! How can we ever repay you?" Gently extracting his arm from Cedric the Younger's deathlike grip, Ambaric said, "There's no need. Helping those in distress is one of my order's tenets." "Very well, then. Where are you going? Can we join you?" Fred, who was now back on his horse, spoke then. "Yes, where exactly are we going, Ambaric? You never told us." "Didn't I? Must have forgotten. I live in the city of Sonnerheim, several days travel from here. We're not that far from the edge of the Forest, and from then on it is countryside until we reach the city proper. There are several villages, but the inhabitants of these usually keep to themselves." "Our destination is just beyond the city of Sonnerheim," Cedric the Younger said.
