Ensign Decker Of The USS Incorrigible.

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 54917

Ensign Decker knew he had to do something.
The investigative Section 31 officer, Moe Dresden, was obviously going to kill them all. Decker included. He simply knew too much about the three visitors, two humans and a Catian.
And even that was suspect. After having been forced, at phaser point, into the brig with the others (why him?) he had said something stupid about Catians. Of course she was. Half feline, wasn't she? Extra join in the legs, bare feet, tail, what else could she be? Heck, the Captain was a Catian, along with Ensign M'relene.
The humans had pounced on that and agreed with him. But Wildman had seemed confused. Just for a second.
And now, on hour three of his captivity (where WAS everyone), he had come to notice a few things. Wildman's features weren't quite Catian. Where the Captain was more human, she was more feline and vice versa.
It was something that probably would not have been noticed by anyone who hadn't served with two Catians for six months.
And of course, Decker had been lost with the Captain in Andorian Mixillian Crystal Caves for a week. (The crystals had a tendency to warp local space/time).
Decker feared the Section 31 operative. At any minute he could show up and babble more information. Hopefully, it wouldn't hurt too much when he mind- melded with a member of the Vulcan Temporal Society in order to bury the information. That is, if he lived through the next few minutes.
The 'Catian' and the others, who were sparse with their information, promised they would defend Decker if it came to it.
Decker leaned against a wall. This was HIS home territory. Surely he could so something.
He had an idea.
Several wall panels had peeled away on different decks. The corners would melt away when the warp field interacted with defective self-sealing stembolts.
The bolts were being checked one by one by one (only six out of six thousand bolts were bad) but they hadn't quite gotten to this deck yet.
Before the others could do anything, Decker went to the closest panel and punched all four corners in swift succession. If this would work, it would count on the Section 31 jerk having replaced the security guard somehow and nobody being there to activate the knockout gas.

  1. The panel fell away, exposing a plethora of wires and conduits.
  2. Nothing happened.
  3. One corner peeled away.
  4. The Section 31 operative appeared and fired THROUGH the security force field. Decker fell, his last thought on how at least it was on stun. This time.
