Fred chose a sword. Then he realized something. All the weapons, including the ones the women had, were weapons Fred had once in his life.

  1. This explained things. Fred had always been losing weapons, a problem that had plagued him until his skills far outshone the monetary losses. (Nobody cared if a lost sword meant the Orc-Mage died).
  2. Fred was confused then ever. He clearly remembered the destruction of several of these weapons (an Orc-Mage had melted Ardua's broadsword).
  3. Fred stubbed a toe.
