The two women tensed as the trapdoor began to rise. They held their swords
at the ready, but then Astra relaxed as she saw who was coming
through. "It's Fred," she told Ardua. "He's the knight that I told you
about, who freed me. Fred, this is Ardua. She's on a quest to kill the
dragon as well. As you see, we managed to find some clothes. But what
happened to you? You look pretty rough."
"Pleased to meet you, Ardua. Well, Astra, it was the strangest thing. You remember that I took the corridor that had the sign 'To the Library'. Well before I could get there I was set on by a band of goblins and beaten unconscious. I don't know why they didn't kill me, but when I came round I found that I'd been stuffed into a huge sack of popcorn. There was no sign of the goblins, so I escaped. I had no idea where I was, but as luck would have it I came out here. The worst thing is, they took my sword and dagger." "Well, you're in luck," Astra said. "There's a drawer filled with swords right here." [484]
