Introducing Jankle

Or torso.

Or, indeed, head.

In fact the only way of telling that Jankle is there at all is that Egon has placed a sign on the chair next to him which bears the legend "Jankle is here". That and the smell.

For someone who is at best invisible, untouchable and inaudible, and at worst non-existent, Jankle doesn't half smell bad.

You are not good at describing smells (in fact it was your worst subject at school, and that is saying something), but if you had to you would say that Jankle smells like a cross between a cat that died in a pile of old socks about six months ago, and Aunt Letitia's after shave (Her- sute, "for the female with facial follicles").

Plus there was definitely also some abalone in there somewhere (although, come to think of it, that WAS the smell of Aunt Letitia's after shave).

You salute Jankle in the least half-hearted manner you can manage.

"Jankle says hi." Egon responds cheerfully, before realising the record he was playing is coming to an end, and returning his attention to the radio show. As he re-dons his headphones and talks to his listeners (were there any? Who knew?), you and Jankle are left to your own devices.

This is pretty embarrassing as you have always had the feeling that Jankle doesn't like you. You didn't know why, there just always seemed to be a bit of an - atmosphere when the two of you were left alone together. Or perhaps you were wrong. Perhaps it was love.

Just then, Jankle does something he has never done before - well, not in your presence anyway.

1. Jankle needs to go to the toilet
2. Jankle tries to kill Egon
3. Jankle dies
