How I Wrote 'Elastic Man'

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 53847

The legendary British cult musician Mark E. Smith, former leader of The Fall, returns from the dead to straighten out the self-replicating algorithm programmed into the code of the Never Ending Quest, which activated itself after a certain number of episodes had been written and uploaded to the site.

By the time Smith has returned to this mortal coil, NEQ had assimilated a good portion of the internet, replacing it with mindless drivel and automated episodes, all signed by Lots42. It was a major disaster, really.

Mark E. Smith recruits a new band of musicians, and hits up the studio. Naturally, he ends up running through a lot of them due to his abrasive nature...or his need to not let his bandmates become lazy or complacent.

  1. Fast forward to the day the new Fall record drops. Does it change the world?
  2. Before anything else, Smith finally clarifies exactly how he wrote Plastic Man.
  3. Is episode creation working?
  4. Disregard this episode.
  5. Mark realizes he can fix the problem simply by unplugging the Never Ending Quest, counting to ten, then plugging it back in again.
  6. Something else.
