"What if they were?" he asks truculently. "What business is it of yours? Who are you people, anyway?"

"Old chap," I say from the side rather sternly. Cannot let this fool get himself even DEEPER into trouble than he already is (his actions and words speak of something amiss here). "I would rather you do NOT take that tone with us, for your own sake if nothing else!"

How the rest of this conversation would have gone . . . will never be known. However, I shan't jest and say I would have expected it to have been pleasant. This "mage" seems to feel entitled to whatever course of action he has taken and WE all have a different opinion on the matter (some more strongly held than others).

I have really come to appreciate this woman who calls herself Inquirer (a name that at first seemed so odd to me but now I know fits her so well). I really have come to appreciate her and her friends.

It is just that sometimes . . . Well, I will not say that she frightens me but shall we say that she can cause a body to stand back and take notice!! If this fool had ANY idea at who and what we are and are about --especially this "light combat war machine" in the form of a human woman--I dare say that he would be much more . . . .polite!

Inquirer holds some values rather high and proud and God help you if you . . .

But whatever and however this conversation could have gone, what DOES happen next shall answer our "good" mage's question about who WE are . . .

I have still VERY much to learn about magic and magery, the birthright I have unexpectedly come upon along with my love, Mina. Have only learned (and eagerly learned) the first small cantrips a magic student learns, but Sigin (and Chiana) have gone to great pains in regaling us about "dopplegangers" and what it means when they meet.

In this case, what it means when what appears to be a red maned unicorn mare accidentally gets a GOOD look at a red haired "proto-Dark Elf" woman. A good enough connection is made through the eyes and . . .
