Astra and Celina were soon asleep. As he kept watch, Fred reflected on what they would need to do on the morrow. The first priority had to be to find food, since he no longer had the pack with his supplies. [238] Then they needed to find out where they were, and to get some clothes for Astra. If they could somehow acquire weapons as well, that would be even better. But apart from the evil tower, he had seen no sign that anyone lived in the region, so achieving most of the items on his list might be difficult.

  1. When he judged that three hours had passed, he woke Astra to take the next watch.
  2. Peering out around the edge of the waterfall, after a while he saw someone climbing the moonlit path towards the grotto. Would they pass on by, or did they know of the hidden cave?
