Sometimes the simplest way is the best way. Fred turned and ran. He got the doors in seconds but he heard a blast of energy. He ducked and a red beam slammed into the doors, turning them into dust. Dust that fell upwards.
Fred did not look a gift pig in the mouth and exited through the now free arch. The only was to go was left so Fred went that way, entering a reception hall. Several elderly men and a tall woman stared at him in suprise. Fred did not care. There was an open door at the end of the hall and he could see a horse tied to a pole. That mare was to be his escape. Just then, the elf careened around the corner, screamed something unitelligible and fired another burst of red energy. Fred dove and rolled to the right. The beam took the head off one of the men. By then, Fred was up and literally inches away from the open door and the horse.
