Lord Fred lumbered across the beach. He couldn't hunt the dragon now. He wouldn't fit in most of the tunnels in the Southern Mountains! He had to get back home and hope the court magicians could change him back to human form.
Birds scattered at his every step. Most of the wildlife went quiet when he came near.
The moon glinted off his scales and shone a path of light over the dark, splashing water. It would have been very pleasent to enjoy of Lord Fred wasn't on a mission.
Suddenly, there was pressure on his tail. Odd. Lord Fred stopped then drew his tail up to his eyes. Hanging from the end of it, growling like mad, was a small dog. His paws frantically worked the empty air as he dug as deep as he could into the scaly flesh. The dog was wearing armor also! What? Why would a dog need protection from sword blades?
The dog noticed Fred looking at him. It dropped to the sand and scattered off.
Lord Fred reached out scaly paw and gently pressed the animal to the sand.
"What manner of creature are you?" Fred growled in dragon speak.
It answered!
"I am Velus."
"How can you speak?"
"You changed me into this, you foul scum! Of course we can communicate!"
"Excuse me?"
"What is wrong with you? We both know you kidnapped me, changed me and made me a slave! I've sworn to destroy you!"
"By chewing on my tail. Right..."
"Well excuse me for having doggy instincts! It's not like it's my fault! I'm doing the best I can."
"Yes you are. But you got one thing wrong. I'm not the dragon."
"Yes you are! You have the same pattern of scales, the same mis-colored claw that's right in front of my face and...oh, no. You're smaller. You're smaller. I've traveled back in time! Oh...no. I am in so much trouble."
Lord Fred pondered the words of the sentient canine. It was apparent the creature believed that Lord Fred would become a kidnapper and form-changer. Never! Changing a person against their will is as terrible as sexual assault against a lady! It wasn't done!"
Lord Fred speaks again. He proposes that he and Velus team up. Fred promised to help him turn human again if Velus would help Fred turn human. Hopefully no one would turn evil.

Fred does not turn into the evil dragon because a powerful sorcerer kidnaps them both and sells them to a far-off kingdom for use in horrible ceremonies.
