A large circle? Fred and Astra were annoyed that the dragon couldn't be
more specific in terms of distance. However, the colour of the moon was
nothing more than various shades of grey, so the green of the emerald
should stand out even in the light they had available. They looked down
into the crater that they estimated was at east half a mile in diameter. A
cursory search showed nothing, they decided to search further, spreading
out. Their movement meant they could cover ground a lot quicker then
otherwise would have been the case. They found no trace of the emerald. The crater had been the only fair-sized one in the immediate vicinity, the others were much smaller, some possibly smaller impacts created by rubble that had been thrown into the air by the larger. They decided to traverse the rim of the crater, surveying the rock-covered plain that surrounded it. They spent what seemed like hours searching the plains and the craters that dotted them. Velus was the one who eventually discovered it, purely by accident, nestled in the centre of its own little crater. He had bounded off as he had been wont to do, seemingly more intent in playing around then helping them search. The dragon had been right about its size, and so Fred was puzzled when he picked it up, expecting it to be heavier. Of course he didn't know it was because gravity was about a tenth of their world's and so things would seem quite a bit lighter. That soon changed when the dragon transported them back the caves without warning. The sudden difference in weight confused Fred even further. Not that he had much time to be confused as the emerald soon disappeared. Thank you, you three, they heard the dragon say. "Why couldn't you have got it yourself?" Astra asked. Simple, my dear Astra. I can't touch it. I can still control it remotely. And before you ask why I can't touch it, I will tell you I would be stuck in my human form were I to do so. And that would be no fun at all. Why that would happen, like how I knew it to be on the moon, is no concern of yours. Astra didn't ask any more questions, as that would probably try his patience. He could have killed them afterwards, but he didn't, and Astra was in no hurry to try anything that might make him change his mind. You'd have thought wanting to kill him would do that, but then again, it would only be something he expects.
