The Glowing Mirror

"I don't know, but I don't like it. I'd suggest breaking it, but they say that breaking a mirror means seven years bad luck. Besides, the surface is highly polished silver rather than glass, so it would be almost impossible to break. Perhaps we should just get rid of it."

"Do we have to?" Nigel said. "It's such a pretty shiny thing."

"I think that..." Amy broke off in mid-sentence, because something strange was happening.

1. The mirror was no longer reflecting their faces, or the wall of their shelter in the background. Instead it showed a completely different scene.
2. Suddenly the reflection in the mirror was greatly distorted.
3. They felt themselves "falling" towards the surface of the mirror, which seemed to them to expand from only a few inches across to something far bigger.
4. The mirror's glow had suddenly brightened so much that it dazzled them.
