Fred Takes Matters Into His Own Hands
The Never Ending Quest - Episode 5182

That night, back in the men's cell, Fred is lying awake on the hard dungeon
bed, staring at the cieling. It's been a long, strange day, and he's
exhausted from trying to fend off the attacks and the stares of these
barbarians who have been locked in his cell with him. He's overheard them
in conversation, attempting to interpret their strange language --
apparently a close variation of his own -- and trying desperately to sort
out everything that's happened to him. It's all so strange... he's
obviously in a very distant land, far from his home.
Eventually, Fred grows restless. There must be some way to break out of this dungeon. Fred's been captured by enough mad wizards and evil overlords to know that there's always a secret passage out of every dungeon cell. Perhaps Fred can find it and escape. Then he can search for a passage into Astra's cell, or, if necessary, come back for her later, once he's learned more about this society and had a chance to gather allies and arm himself for an attack against the barbarians who have imprisoned him. Finally Fred stands and looks around the darkness of his cell. He must say, the cell is much cleaner and more spacious than any he's ever been imprisoned in before. There's enough room for half a dozen prisons or so, with actual beds instead of straw mats, and, aside from some odd writing on the walls, it seems to be maintained much better than the typical dungeon cell. Unfortunately, he still doesn't have any idea where to start looking. Finally giving up, he decides to start combing the floor for any loose panels or displaced stones. After several minutes of searching the room, Fred finally finds what looks like a loose stone in the floor under his bed, large enough for a man his size to fit through. This is it; he's sure of it. This is the standard secret passage, and his way to freedom. Taking a deep breath, he kneels on the floor, braces himself, flexes and stretches his muscles, takes hold of the panel in the floor, and, with a mighty heave, attempts to pull it free.
