The Captain's Worry

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 51584

"So, since the man you questioned turned out to be a new recruit, I suppose that you won't have been able to learn anything about their plans from him," the captain said. "That worries me, especially as we don't know what they may have learnt about us from our spy before he was taken out to be killed. They wouldn't have decided to kill him unless they thought that they could get nothing more out of him. So either our man was a convincing liar - which wouldn't be easy if they tortured him or even merely threatened to do so - or he was extremely brave, or he will have told them everything he knew. The last is much the most likely."

"How much did he know?" Henri asked.

  1. "Fortunately, not that much. I kept the risk that he might be detected in mind, and told him nothing that he did not absolutely need to know,"
  2. "Too much for comfort, including the location of this camp."
