Fortunately Fred didn't have to travel far in order to find the two
horses. The surrounding undergrowth had indeed made sure that they
couldn't easily stray away from the track. They were both nibbling at
grasses that were slowly starting to reclaim the track since it had fallen
into disuse. They turned around at his approach, but went back to eating. Fred dismounted and decided to approach slowly so not to risk spooking them. He needn't have worried - they had both completely calmed down. The horse that looked similar to Maisie, was in fact Maisie's daughter, though he couldn't recall her name at the moment. She allowed Fred to take her reins and lead her over to her mother. The other, however, was a bit more feisty but eventually allowed Fred to do the same. Since Fred couldn't really ride Maisie and pull the other two horses with him, it meant they had to walk back. All the same, they still would get to the inn before sundown, Fred reckoned.
