"What about it, Fred?" Astra asked.

This startled Fred as he hadn't realised he'd said it aloud.

"Well, I realise I don't really know much about it," he finally said. "As I still hope to go there, I was wondering if you could enlighten me."

"Anything in particular you wanted to know about?"

"Its history, perhaps? That should take up some time."

"Okay." She turned and managed to grin at him. "No falling asleep, all right?"

He grinned back. "I promise."

She started out by saying that the actual founding of Aqualaria was lost in the mists of time, but she knew one legend about it. Fred kept to his promise, and actually seemed to find the story quite interesting. It made him wish he had paid more attention to the history of his own country, but he had always daydreamed about being a knight in shining armour, rescuing damsels and slaying foul beasts. He had got more than one thick ear because of it. He admitted as much to Astra when she asked if he could do the same, and it took quite some effort for her not to laugh.

They talked abour the world, and wondered just how much of it was still waiting to be explored. He jokingly asked Astra if Aqualarians thought the world was flat. She just as jokingly replied that it had to be, how else could anyone travel to the four corners? They both had a good laugh at that, which both felt they both needed in the light of current events.

Soon afterwards they saw Wilkes approaching with the two extra horses. They got up to greet him. Both horses were chestnut mares, both with a patch of white on their foreheads. One whinnied a greeting at Fred, and it took him a few seconds to realise why. It was Maisie, his second horse, and mate of Hector, the stallion he'd left at the bottom of the Shreken. He patted her in a friendly way.

1. Fred and Astra mounted up, and they set off for Caemlyn.
2. They were ambushed by something that made the horses bolt.
