"Why," said Baron Fledermaus, "we are sewer slurperers."
"I beg your pardon," said the Jerk. "Listen," continued the Baron while Fred paid close attention, Clark held on to the rock-slash-deadly-weapon (just in case), the Lady Diana was thinking three steps farther into their plan, and Buffina was busy playing with her pony-tailed hair. "I say, listen. You may be the proprietor of the Tavern d'Angelo, and you may be making quite a killing, but all the blood and guts and sweat and tears of the patrons and buffoons who come here to this gladiator Pit have to go somewhere so that you and your tavern can claim some kind of regulated inspection rating." "Actually, there aren't any--" began the Jerk, but was cut off by the Baron. "Listen, I said listen! These here sewers are full of the offal of the Dragon's success... and yours, I might add. It must be cleansed so that this wonderful enterprise may continue. Hence... the slurperers." A look of understanding came upon the Jerk, and then of disgust. "Why... that's... DISGUSTING. You are going to go down there and SLURP up the entrails, crap, excess skin, blood, crap, mucous, grime, crap, and hamburger that flows down into that hole?" "Why no, dear chap," said the Baron (which resulted in a big sigh of relief on Fred's and Clark's part). "WE don't do the slurping, if we did then we would be called the slurpers. We HANDLE the slurpers, and so are properly called the slurperers." "Oh," said the Jerk, a new sense of comprehension coming down upon him. "Alright, uh, go to it." He turned to leave and then returned. "Uh, my serving wench," he said to Buffina. "Why are you with these slurperers?" A sudden look of anxiety came across her face, Clark's fingers clenched the rock, but it was Fred who spoke: "She's moonlighting!" "Oh," said the Jerk. And then he left. And then the group of would-be dragon-killers went down into the sewers that were part of the Dragon's subterrannean world.
