An hour's hike brought them to a strange sight. A hunting camp was being picketed by fifty young men and women.
"What is the problem?" Fred said, going forth between the line of young men and older hunters. Starflare stayed back, hiding behind the catering cart. Huge redwoods loomed over the encounter, blocking the sun.
"We are protesting!" says a redheaded, skinny man. "These hunters aren't just feeding their families, they are here to to take all animals! Due to new trading routes, every animal now has a value!"
"Madness!" cried a taller woman, also redhaired. "Leaving some behind guarantees animals for the future but they just want the profits now!"
"Occupy this camp!" cried a one-armed youth.
"No!" Fred cried. "Let me talk to the hunters first. At least. Please."

  1. Fred talked to the hunters.
  2. The catering cart fell over. Starflare had transformed into the dragon!
  3. The catering cart fell over. Starflare, still human, staggered away, wounded in several spots.
  4. A hunter threw stun spray. The two redheads and four other youngsters fell over, groaning.
  5. A hunter stepped forward under a flag of truce.
