Down to a final bat, the embattled lord steadies himself in the small vessel. But through the course of the awkward movement, a Firebane gauntlet slips from his left hand. Perhaps due to the flash of pale skin, or the scent of sweat, the final vampire bat darts to his hand and digs fangs in for a moment, until with a mighty wave, Fred flings the bat into the mists and away.
Twin punctures adorn the bag of his hand and as the boat skims along the underground lake's surface a sense of dread holds Frederigo. Who knows if this particular bat was actually a mythic vampire? Were those teeth were in there long enough to do any damage? To change him?
