Never Talk to a Dragon's Trick

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 50421

Lord Fred stared at this woman on the skiff. His eyes rolled up her beautiful body with instinctual force even as his tongue broke loose from the tendrils of agog.

"Woman, I know not of what you speak."

The woman took one step off the skiff and onto the wet land. "Stop this nonsense Fred and tell me what happened to Velus."

Fred was confused, and not only because there was a gorgeous and nude woman before him. He knew of no "Astra" and of no "Velus". His mind reeled at how this stranger could speak to him as if he were her compatriot, his mind reeled at what multi-hued tricks the Dragon had at its disposal. Fred unsheathed his sword.

The woman's eyes widened. "Fred... put that down. Something is obviously wrong here, you're not yourself. Let's talk."

Fred didn't mouth a word. To speak with a Dragon was death itself, to speak with a visage was deadly peril. Fred made to attack.

The woman lept off of the skiff with a graceful motion and her long legs made contact with Fred's abdomen. Fred fell to the ground never loosening his grip on his weapon. The woman rolled and butted Fred's jaw with her left elbow; Fred's left arm grabbed at her waist. Flesh and metal, nail and steel fought valiantly within that cavern of stygian waters. The fight would have probably continued for quite some time except for the woman's hair. Fred had never seen such a wild-woman in all his life, her strength, her agility, her tactics. He was continually blocked from using his sword by the moves she employed, and he was also being battered mercilessly. Though unmanly, he did what was necessary to save his life: he pulled her long locks of golden-red hair.

Her body screetched to a halt as some of her roots were pulled out, a scream nearly broke her throat. Instinctively, fearing for her life, the woman did what was necessary to save her life: she kneed him in his groin.

Both bodies lay on the ground, reeling in pain, suffering wounds of bruise and cut. They both lay prostrate upon their knees, huffing and puffing, trying to regain the very breathe needed for survival. They both eyed each other as wild animals, as predators, as persons making the choices to become victors.

And then they heard the splash.

Fred's eyes widened. A long sinewy shape wider then Telon (the burly blacksmith back in his hometown) was sliding from below the waters and onto the pebbly beachscape!

Before either of the two exhausted figures could react to the new threat, a fourth shape appeared from out of the mists.

"Hold!" shouted the new voice and from out of the mists the new figure rushed at the long shape writhing along the waterline, writhing and rising from out of the subteranean waters. The figure wore gleaming armor of blood-brick colour, the figure held aloft an axe of impressive size and heft, the figure gave a warcry and began to hack at the monster. The monster did not take this lightly; it heaved itself higher from the waters, more tentacles produced themselves and began to wrap themselves about the figure. For tense moments the two antagonists were locked in a life and death struggle, for seemingly endless moments. But then it was over. Five tentacles lay upon the beach, the bulbous head of the beast submerged, and the bloodied figure stood near the waters and near the skiff, breathing in new life.

  1. The figure takes off his/her helmet and addresses Fred and the woman...
  2. Fred has regained enough of his strength and has spied a way to steel himself to safety if he cannot kill these two obviously deadly strangers...
  3. The woman has regained enough of her strength to rise, large stones in both hands ready to be used without mercy...
  4. The woman (truly a she-drake in disguise) makes the best of this situation...
